Knowledge bases

A knowledge base holds documents and website pages your agents can search. An agent with a knowledge base answers from it and cites the source file or page. It works in English and Arabic.

  1. Open Knowledge → New knowledge base.
  2. Name it and describe what’s in it - agents read the description to decide when to search.
  3. Pick its region. Only agents in the same region can use it.

Setting up takes about a minute.

Drag files in or choose them: PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, text, Markdown, HTML, CSV and more - up to 10 at a time. backcrew sends them straight to the search index and doesn’t keep a copy of your files.

  1. Add the site’s address and, optionally, include or exclude patterns and a page limit.
  2. Prove you control the site: publish the DNS TXT record backcrew shows you, then click Verify. Nothing is crawled before that.
  3. backcrew crawls the site (respecting robots.txt) and keeps it fresh daily, weekly, or when you click Sync. Changed pages are updated and removed pages are dropped.

Pick up to 5 knowledge bases under Knowledge in the Agent Builder. Attaching or removing one redeploys the agent.

Each search an agent makes costs a few credits - see Credits. Storing documents and crawling sites are free.
