Tools

A tool is one of your systems - a CRM, a ticketing tool, an internal API - that agents can call. You set it up once per workspace and attach it to as many agents as you like.

  1. Open Tools → Add tool.
  2. Give it a name and a category, and pick its region (it can only be attached to agents in that region).
  3. Enter the connection: the base URL and, optionally, an OpenAPI description of its operations. Without one, backcrew uses a generic list / get / create / update / delete shape.
  4. Enter the credential: an API key (and where it goes - a header or a query parameter) or OAuth client details.
  • In the Agent Builder, pick it under Tools, or
  • On a deployed agent’s page, attach it directly - no redeploy needed.

Attaching gives the agent the tool’s operations. To stop it from doing some of them, add them to its policy under Things the agent must never do with its tools.

  • Disable removes the tool from every agent immediately; enable brings it back.
  • Replace credential when a key is rotated.
  • Delete asks before detaching it from agents that use it.
